Kawayan is a fifth class municipality 18 kms from Naval. It has 20 barangays that subsists from agricultural products, mainly coconut and palay. It also has fishing villages that are supported by products from the sea. Its main transport within the municipality are jeeps, multicabs and single motorcycles. Since 90% of the roads of the municipality are cemented, going around the place is not a problem.
Kawayan has a number of beautiful tourist spots. Tingcasan Bat Cave is one of the favorites of local tourists. For those who want to do some swimming, Ungali Waterfalls provides such pleasure. There is also a swimming resort in Masangsong. The entire municipality is characterized by green hills and valleys.
