Pagsanjan, Western Samar is about one hour from Catbalogan. In order to get there, one has to traverse roads that are quite rough, climbing up a mountainous terrain that allowed the visitor a view of pockets of communities at various junctures. Along the route is a very old ruin where the Society of Jesus had established one of its very first edifices way back in the 1500s. If only for this historic site, it is worth the visit to Pagsanjan.
Pagsanjan itself is a town inhabited by warm and hospitable people.
